Speech & Language Therapy
A Speech Disorder refers to difficulty or inability to produce speech sounds correctly or fluently, and/or problems with one's voice. Some examples of speech disorders include articulation disorders, or difficulty pronouncing sounds and stuttering, or fluency disorders.
A Language Disorder refers to difficulty understanding others (receptive language), or adequately sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings (expressive language).
People of all ages can have speech and language disorders. They may or may not have a known cause.
When your child is referred for Speech-Language Therapy due to a suspected Speech and/or Language Disorder, a Comprehensive Evaluation will be completed to determine the type and severity of the suspected disorder. We will discuss your child's medical history and utilize carefully selected testing materials to create a treatment plan individually tailored to your child's needs and incorporating your vision for his/her Speech and Language goals.
